Waipapa Wellbeing Trust was established to help fund various services including a Mental Health Adviser and Social Worker.
These roles provide support for vulnerable students facing complex mental health, family, and social challenges that impact their wellbeing and engagement in education.
Working closely with students, whānau, schools, and external agencies, they assess needs, coordinate referrals, provide risk and wellbeing support, strengthen family relationships, and help address barriers such as mental illness, trauma, addiction, family dysfunction, poverty, homelessness, violence, and refugee resettlement challenges.
Together, these roles ensure young people have a safe and confidential space to be heard, develop strategies to manage stress and adversity, improve school attendance and engagement, and access the support needed to achieve positive educational and life outcomes.
